How to create a Top 8 graphic from your start.gg results

Paste your start.gg tournament link and Top8Maker fills in the Top 8 with names, teams and tournament details. Step by step, plus what to do if something doesn't work.

If you run your tournament on start.gg, most of the work is already done: names, teams and final placements are all there. Top8Maker takes them directly to build your Top 8 graphic, with no copying by hand.

What you need

  • A free Top8Maker account (importing from start.gg requires signing in).
  • The tournament link on start.gg. It looks like this: start.gg/tournament/tournament-name (a direct link to an event works too).
  • The event must have final results published.

Step by step

  1. Go to Create Top 8 and pick the game.
  2. Pick a design.
  3. Under "Do you have a start.gg link?", choose Yes and paste the link.
  4. Press Start creating. If the tournament has several events, pick the one you want. Top8Maker brings in the top eight with their tags, teams, the tournament name and the date.
  5. Pick each player's character and adjust the colors to your liking.
  6. Download the image.

The accredited tournament seal

Top 8s imported from start.gg get an accredited tournament seal and a line with the event link. It shows the community that the results are the official ones.

  • You can move the seal, resize it or hide it.
  • You can change the tournament title (for example, to shorten it) and keep the seal.
  • If you change a name, a tag or the date, the seal is removed. Put it back the way it was and it returns.

If something doesn't work

  • "We couldn't find that tournament": make sure the link is complete (with /tournament/ in the address) and that the tournament is public on start.gg.
  • "The event hasn't finished yet": start.gg doesn't have the final results yet. Try again once the event is closed.
  • "No results recorded": the event exists but its placements weren't entered on start.gg. You can type the Top 8 in by hand.

Your tournament isn't on start.gg? No problem: you can type the results by hand and everything else works the same.
