What Top8Maker is and why it exists

The tournament ends late, everyone wants to see the results and someone has to build the graphic. Top8Maker was made for that moment.

Every organizer knows the scene. Grand finals end close to midnight, people start packing up their controllers and the group chat is already asking: where's the Top 8?

That's when the other job begins. Open a design program, find last time's template, change the names one by one, look for each character's image, position it, export, and check that nobody's name is misspelled. If it goes well, that's twenty minutes. If it doesn't, the graphic goes out the next day, when nobody is waiting for it anymore.

What Top8Maker is

Top8Maker is a free web tool for creating a video game tournament's results graphic: the top eight players, with their character, their team and the event details, ready to share on social media.

It runs in the browser, on a computer or a phone. There's nothing to install and no design skills are needed.

Why it was created

It was created to take that last job of the night off the hands of the people who run tournaments.

Fighting game communities live off people who organize for the love of it: they find the venue, build the brackets, run the stream and, at the end, become the designers too. Big tournaments have a team for that. Local tournaments, weeklies and communities that are just starting out don't.

The idea is simple: a twenty-person tournament should be able to show its results with the same quality as a two-thousand-person one.

What it's for

  • Publishing fast. A Top 8 takes a minute to build, while people are still talking about the tournament.
  • Results you can trust. If you import from start.gg, the names come straight from the bracket and the graphic carries the "Verified" badge.
  • Giving each community its own style. Colors, fonts, backgrounds and logos adapt to your tournament's identity.
  • Keeping a record. The Top 8s you publish stay in the community gallery, where anyone can see how the scene is doing.

Who it's for

Organizers, of course. Also players who want to show their result, content creators who cover tournaments, and anyone who wants to build a Top 8 for fun.

You don't need an account to try it. With a free account you can save your projects, import from start.gg and publish to the gallery.

Your tournament already did the hard part: bringing people together. Showing the results should be the easy part.
